Jam Hotel
2022 | Produced for Jam Hotel project in collaboration with Atelier Lionel Jadot
Jam Hotel will be Portugal’s first passive house-certified hotel—a sustainable construction standard that makes the building highly energy efficient and ecological. Located at the heart of Lisbon in front of river Tagus, it is designed by Belgian studio Atelier Lionel Jadot, with Mircea Anghel / Cabana Studio. The total renovation of this 1960s office block features repurposable elements and materials that have been locally sourced, are recycled, modular, open source, come from independent artisans, or are offcuts that would be otherwise unusable.
From recycled rubber as bed headboards to leftover construction bricks as light lampshades, every material has a story behind it that is celebrated in the space. These materials are orchestrated together to form the environment for 109 rooms, a ground floor open to the city, a co-working space and a zero-waste restaurant.
